含有分詞的複合形容詞
N + [V-ing] + N -->  表示主動
  N + [V-pp] + N --> 表示被動
　　　 1. countries which produce oil = oil-producing countries
　　　 2. crowds which are waving the flags = flag-waving crowds
　　　 3. the slope which was covered with snow = the snow-covered slope
　　　 4. the area which is guarded by soldiers = the soldier-guarded area

　Adj-[V-ing] + N  -->  表示主動
   Adv-[V-pp] + N    --> 表示被動　　　
             1. a pipe which looks odd = an odd-looking pipe
　　　 2. the economy which is growing fast = the fast-growing economy
　　　 3. crimes which seem similar = similar-seeming crimes
　　　 4. a bus which is moving slowly = a slowly-moving bus
　　　 5. workers who are paid hourly = hourly-paid workers

主動、被動是指和所修飾的名詞的關係，如以上各例所示。

可是有時V-pp 是「字的固定用法」而非表示被動，例如：
a soft-spoken girl  說話溫柔的女孩  （可以說 softly-speaking 嗎？）
a well-behaved boy 守規矩的男孩   （可以說 well-behaving 嗎？）
