Maybe we can try this. Can you tell what the author's trying to tell you when you read this sentence?

Is he trying to tell you ....

1. a historical event?

or

2. What Pamela does? (or ... "did"?)
-> If it does something, could the author also tell you it "has" something with it?

or

-> .... did(*1) ... ......... "had" .... ?
(so it "doesn't" anymore? It exploded in space maybe?)

Is Pamela an on-going mission or it failed/ended?
