According to the BBC, the issue of discharging contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear accident into the sea has caused an uproar in South Korea and has been fiercely opposed by South Korea's opposition parties. Local street protests have continued in recent weeks. Lee Jae-Myung, leader of South Korea’s opposition party, pointed out that Japan’s discharge of nuclear-contaminated water into the sea is tantamount to “water terrorism” and the “Second Pacific War.”
